Beginning Thursday, April 1, you will need to present your physical library card for circulation transactions (checking out, renewing in person, updating records, etc.) and for using the public computers at the library.
The many Archuleta County parents who homeschool their children will be pleased to learn that a new special section for homeschool materials has just been created in the children’s room at the library. Books on parenting will be added soon, and we already have a nice selection of home-school books including the following:
Grants from foundations and corporations are a major source of operating funds for the Sisson Library. These organizations require lots of figures to prove that any library requesting donated funds is well managed and also an integral and valued part of its community. Here are some the numbers that we provide grant donors and thought you’d find interesting – a look behind the scenes at what makes your library run.
With books on CD among our patrons’ favorite offerings at the library, we are pleased to announce a large number of new ones added to our CD collection, which now number almost a thousand:
If you’re looking for free entertainment for yourself or your family, why not take advantage of a collection of 50 new videos given to the library by an anonymous donor. Every December 31, library volunteers help your library start the new year in the tidiest, cleanest way possible by taking every book, magazine, DVD, CD and video off the shelves and checking them to see if they need repairs. The shelves are then cleaned and the materials fixed before they go back on the shelves in the proper place, in pristine condition, waiting for you to come to take them home to enjoy them.
A powerful new online language learning system designed specifically for use by the patrons of public libraries is now available on the Sisson Library web site: http://pagosa.colibraries.org/.
We hope local nonprofit organizations and community groups will take advantage of the new bulletin boards in the left foyer as you enter the library. This Community News space has been set aside for you to showcase your activities and fundraising events.
Now that December is here, we wanted you to be aware of two special holiday events at the library.
